WatchGuard has announced today that it is expanding into the Nordics with Switzerland-headquartered cybersecurity VAD Infinigate.
The US network security vendor has signed a distribution agreement that will encompass Norway, Sweden and Denmark, as part of its partner recruitment drive in the region.
WatchGuard's global sales SVP, Sean Price, described the €527m distributor as "a perfect fit" due to its combination of cybersecurity focus and connections in the Nordics.
"With many years' experience in the region and highly skilled and knowledgeable teams, Infinigate has great reach into the partner community and we look forward to joining forces to help partners and end users increase their IT security," he said.
Infinigate will distribute WatchGuard's network security and intelligence, secure Wi-Fi, and multi-factor authentication solutions for midmarket companies.
In September, WatchGuard's global channel boss Mark Romano confirmed that the vendor will not have its head turned by the enterprise segment.
He told CPI that he thinks it's best for the channel for the vendor to stay committed to the mid-market.
"If you are not consistent with your channel partners long-term; they will remember you. And that's where I think the enterprise players have a problem," he said.
It's an approach that Infinigate has also welcomed.
"WatchGuard is an exciting addition to our vendor portfolio to support and strengthen our midmarket strategy," added the VAD's regional manager Nordics, Thomas Hagelid.
