Pandemic prompts spending boom on smartwatches, ear-worn devices and other wearables, Gartner figures show

The pandemic appears to have breathed new life into the wearables market, according to Gartner, whose numbers show an 18 per cent hike in sales of smart watches, smart clothing and other devices worn on the body in 2020. Global wearables sales hit $69bn in 2020, and are expected to vault to $81.5bn in 2021 before hitting $93.9bn in 2022, the market watcher said.
