KKR puts billions on the table for Telecom Italia buy

US investment fund KKR has offered to buy one of Italy's largest phone group's, Telecom Italia. The value of the deal has not been confirmed, however, news outlets such as Reuters are reporting the offer to be worth €10.8bn while the Financial Times has said €33bn. The FT added, if successful, the deal would be one of the largest private equity buyouts of a European company in history.
