German factory fire adds to 'chipageddon' fears

Chip machinery maker ASML has been forced to close part of its Berlin factory this week

Chip machinery maker ASML was forced to shut down some of its operations in Berlin this week after a fire broke out, with onlookers claiming the closure could exacerbate an already dire shortage of semiconductors globally. The fire did not lead to any injuries, but ASML said it is too early to tell how serious the damage is and to what extent it will impact its operations.
