Pan-European behemoth ALSO has snapped up Solytron Bulgaria, the largest distributor in the country.
Solytron Bulgaria has annual turnover of €110m and has more than 30 per cent market share. With a headcount of 120, the company claims that it has seen sales triple in the last ten years.
CEO of the Swiss-based distributor, Gustavo Möller-Hergt, said that he wants ALSO to be known as the dominant player in the region, which the company claims is worth €30bn.
"We have sent another strong signal that our goal is to expand in Eastern Europe," he said.
ALSO is already the leading distributor in the CEE market but is on an acquisitive streak to consolidate local rivals.
In July last year, ALSO acquired a Slovenian rival, the €80m-turnover distributor DISS, for an undisclosed sum.
ALSO is also in the midst of negotiations to snap up the biggest distributor in Poland: ABC Data.
Last month, a source in ABC Data told CPI that although there have delays due to disgruntled shareholders, the sale is likely to go ahead this summer.
ALSO is present in 15 countries in Europe and reached €9bn in sales in its FY2018.
Research published by CPI found the firm is also the second-largest distributor by revenue in Germany behind Ingram Micro, and the third-largest in France, tailing Ingram Micro and Tech Data.
