€10bn licensing behemoth SoftwareONE has continued its acquisitive streak by buying a controlling stake in InterGrupo, one of Latin America's cloud consulting and application modernisation providers.
SoftwareONE says it chose InterGrupo to make good on one of its strategic priorities; developing its "application modernisation and devOps/digital engineering portfolio".
InterGrupo's managed services play in unified communications will be incorporated into SoftwareONE's existing global service delivery model.
The Colombia-headquartered MSP claims to be the leader in Azure technology in the Latin-American market.
It has subsidiaries in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
SoftwareONE CEO, Dieter Schlosser, said that InterGrupo's addition will help customers overcome "the limitation of a classical lift & shift approach".
"The acquisition of InterGrupo opens up a new strategic segment for SoftwareONE," he said.
"Right now, digital transformation is on everyone's agenda. We make digital transformation accessible to all organisations independent of geography, size and segmentation.
"An essential contributor to digital transformation is app modernisation, which supports the transformation of applications to cloud native technologies and bringing them up to par with the latest functions and capabilities to get the best possible business outcome."
Earlier this year, chairman, Daniel von Stockar, hinted that the Swiss-based had its eyes on another acquisition target.
Following its recent merger with German firm Comparex, von Stockar said that M&A activity is part of the licensing VAR's business transformation to scale in "key geographies".
